Designed by Principal Mark Tarmey under the auspices of Strollo Architects, Inc. in 1993, This project required an innovative design approach for the 160-bed (male) housing, 32-bed (female) housing, 8 isolation cells, and 4-bed quarantine-capable medical treatment ward. The facility also includes a full kitchen, booking, storage for inmate belongings, visitation, and secure sally port with evidence locker. Located in historic downtown Live Oak, the facility maintains the sense of community by being integrated into the downtown at a scale that is compatible with the existing urban fabric.
